New in Thermoforming!

Because consumers prefer attractive, well-presented products, it is well known that on the sales front it is of vital importance to win the contest for the nicest and most attractive packaging. But it is important to be represented on the sales shelves at least as well as the competition. Now, with packs produced from thermoplastics by the deep-drawing process, it See details

Technological advances in thermoforming

To achieve an outstanding packaging design with high-resolution picture quality in a single production step has up till now been possible mainly with injection-moulding procedures. In the thermoforming procedure, either loss of quality in the photorealism, i.e. loss of attractiveness of the pack, has to be taken into account, or this disadvantage has to be overcome by See details

Enormous cost savings due to IML in Thermoforming

The new inline technology for form, fill and seal equipment with P’AUER labels integrates the labelling directly, and reduces the manufacture to one single production process. If several different types of product are involved, the IML labels can be changed in a matter of seconds – without stopping the production. With IML in the deep-drawing process, See details

The IML Process

In-Mould Labelling is a highly advanced decoration process for plastics, in which the prefabricated plastic label is positioned directly into the mould by a special handling robot. The result is a decorated end product completed in a single process - with no need for subsequent labelling or printing.

1. The prefabricated plastic label is deposited in the robot by a special handling device.

2. The label is precisely positioned in the mould electrostatically or by applying vacuum, just before the injection process.

3. The tub and its decoration are completed in a single process. There is a total bond between the label and the tub.

IML Advantages

  • Because IML eliminates several stages in processing and buffer storage, it opens up enormous rationalisation potential, particularly for high-quality mass production, such as is required for packaging solutions. IML is the only technology that makes fully automated production possible.
  • Because IML does not involve manual handling or stopping production for changeovers to new types, short runs can also be produced cost-effectively, perfectly hygienically and just-in-time.
  • Because in IML the foil and the moulding material are identical, they form an insoluble bond. The result is an exceptionally attractive, durable product that is easy to recycle due to its monomer properties.
  • Originally developed for injection moulding, IML is currently successfully used with the same advantages in blow moulding, and can now also be used in thermoforming.
